In mid-September 2025, we commissioned the modernized railway station in Olkusz, Lesser Poland Voivodeship.
In December 2023, Swietelsky Rail Polska sp. z o.o. signed a contract worth approximately 110 million PLN with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for the reconstruction of the railway station in Olkusz.
Work began on February 26, 2024, and included:
🔸 track works: reconstruction of approximately 7 km of tracks and 21 switches,
🔸 new platforms: a two-edge platform of 300 m long and a single-edge platform of 505 m long (one of the longest in Poland),
🔸 new signal box with electronic SRK devices,
🔸 traction network: 7 km of new infrastructure,
🔸 telecommunication and power supply systems in the new station layout (along with CSDiP),
🔸 engineering structures: a modern underground passage with an elevator replacing the existing footbridge over the tracks,
🔸 new level crossing and accompanying infrastructure,
🔸 passenger amenities: shelters, benches, information boards, tactile paths for the blind and visually impaired.
The comprehensive modernization will be completed in December this year, but the investment already significantly improves travel comfort, safety, and the capacity of railway traffic on the route between Krakow and Katowice.
We are pleased that thanks to our work, the Olkusz station has become a modern and fully accessible transport hub, ready to meet the demands of contemporary transport and future projects, including plans for the Central Communication Port.
